The Toronto Area Hospice Regatta Committee and the National Yacht Club are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the sixth annual Toronto Area Hospice Regatta that will take place June 15-16, 2013 at the National Yacht Club in Toronto.
New this year…
- The net proceeds of this charity regatta will go to the Dorothy Ley Hospice
- Competitor fundraising – crews that raise a minimum of $250 for the hospice can receive a 10% discount on the purchase of a new sail from Evolution Sails
- An IRC start – the TAHR welcomes the largest growing fleet on Lake Ontario
- More modest but highly entertaining shore-side activities
- A reduced entry fee.

I am pleased to announce that the proceeds of the 2013 Toronto Area Hospice Regatta will go to the Dorothy Ley Hospice. The Dorothy Ley Hospice is a volunteer-based community service organization offering compassionate care to people living with the challenges of a life-limiting illness or loss. The goal of the hospice is to provide comfort and help to individuals so they can live every day to the fullest with dignity, meaning and hope. All of the services are offered at no cost to the individual thanks to the generosity of donors, government funding and the support of community partners.

June 15-16, 2013
In 2007, the TAHR grew from an idea over a cocktail to become one of the premiere yacht racing events on Lake Ontario. Since its inception, the regatta has grown from 23 to over 60 boats.
The idea, created by Sharon Anderson, Mike Sonosky, Lori DeLuca and myself, was to bring forward a way where racing sailors could give back to the community while doing what they love. At that point, a one-design regatta that would raise money for Perram House – a palliative care residence in Toronto – was born.

Why We Fundraise
Most of us - including our friends and the members of our family - will ultimately face a life-limiting illness or loss. In fact, as the population ages and the structure of our health care system evolves, there are few options for the terminally ill who need physical, emotional and spiritual support. The Dorothy Ley Hospice fills that critical void.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to provide services free of charge to those in need. This is why every dollar we receive from individuals, foundations, corporations, organizations, churches and special events is appreciated and valued.
